EVANSTON VICTORIAN

PROJECT BRIEF

This stunning 1890s Burnham & Root Queen Anne Victorian has been lovingly restored and updated to honor its rich history while providing a modern backdrop for the family’s various activities.  Many of the home’s original architectural details were preserved throughout the 12,000+ square feet of living space during the gut renovation, while the light fixtures and controls were completely modernized with the latest technologies.  Hoiland Studios introduced discreet architectural lighting to subtly enhance the decorative lighting selected by the interior designer.  Since many of the ceiling heights and crown moldings were preserved, all recessed lights were thoughtfully located to fit between the existing ceiling joists.  Integrated lighting in the kitchen, butler’s pantry, library, wine room, and primary suite were meticulously coordinated to ensure the light sources were concealed.  A new centralized lighting control system was installed to control the four floors of living space, coach house, and exterior while antique brass push button keypads offer intuitive control, honoring the traditional design elements.
