LINCOLN PARK ITALIANATE
PROJECT BRIEF
Nestled on a tree-lined street in Chicago’s historic Lincoln Park neighborhood, this meticulously renovated 1880s Italianate home spans over 5,000 square feet, harmoniously blending fresh elegance with traditional architectural details. Hoiland Studios implemented intentional, minimal lighting throughout the home, enhancing its architectural features while also preserving its refined character. Thoughtfully positioned in response to ceiling heights and art locations, round, flangeless recessed lights are seamlessly integrated into the plaster ceilings, providing both unobtrusive aesthetics by day and tailored illumination by night. In-floor uplights gracefully wash the living room’s cashmere drapery and accentuate the bay window in the primary bathroom, creating captivating focal points on both levels. Careful collaboration between trades ensured that all light sources were expertly concealed, preserving the home’s design integrity. Unlacquered brass push-button keypads, harmonizing with the home’s other brass accents, complete the design and further enhance its timeless appeal. The lighting design not only highlights the home’s architectural beauty but also seamlessly integrates form and function, ensuring each space feels both timeless and inviting.
