OUR PROCESS

Typically, we will procure the light fixtures; however, depending on the project, it may be easier for the electrician to procure the fixtures.

04.  PROCUREMENT

We will be available to answer any questions that arise during installation and visit the site, as needed.

05.  ON-SITE COORDINATION

At the end of the project, we will schedule a meeting with the electrician on site to ensure all fixtures are adjusted per the design intent.

06.  PROJECT CLOSE OUT

Schedule an initial call with our team so we can learn about your project scope and lighting priorities.  An on-site meeting to review the space is highly recommended.

From there, we’ll provide a detailed proposal outlining our services throughout the project as well as a design fee estimate.

01.  ENGAGEMENT

Once we receive the signed proposal, we will develop the lighting plan, assemble fixture specifications, and run photometric calculations (as needed).

We will then meet with you to review the lighting plan and fixture specifications in detail, making adjustments as needed.

02.  DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

When the lighting plan and fixture specifications are confirmed, we will create a fully detailed and dimensioned lighting package which may include a lighting plan, fixture specification schedule, fixture specification sheets, and lighting load schedule for the electrician.

Projects with smaller scopes may require less documentation.

03.  CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION

ART LIGHTING

  • Why should I consult with a lighting designer?
If you value a well-illuminated space and want to ensure the lighting is designed, installed, and controlled properly, then you’ll want a lighting expert on your design team. We tailor the layers of light, fixture locations, fixture specifications, and type of lighting control based on the architectural aesthetic of the space and your specific lighting preferences.
  • How does the consultation work?
Virtual consultations are 1 hour and conducted via a Zoom video call. Prior to your scheduled session, you’ll receive an email with a link to join the meeting. You can show your space over video, put together a presentation with photos and/or links to walk through over screen-share, or simply chat and take notes. The session is flexible and collaborative, allowing you to ask questions and receive tailored feedback. The session does not include any follow-up notes from our discussion.
  • How do I prepare for the consultation?
Your preparation can be as minimal or detailed as you like. To make the most of your consultation, we recommend assembling the following: Photos of the spaces you’d like to discuss. Lighting plans, furniture layouts, interior and exterior elevations, and/or millwork drawings to review and reference. A list of questions. Inspiration images whether or not they include lighting.
  • How do I show my space?
We will meet via Zoom video call, so you'll be able to show your space in real time using the camera on your device. Many people find it easier and more efficient to gather photos of their space into a document, which can shared via screen-share.
  • How much will I accomplish during the consultation?
You will be surprised how much we can accomplish in an hour when you come prepared with an agenda and your list of questions to review together. Kiersten’s ability to interpret lighting design possibilities and offer solutions will give you confidence to take the next steps.

Our art lighting service offers you the opportunity to illuminate your artwork in its best light and typically involves minimal construction work.

A few examples of art lighting upgrades include repositioning existing recessed light fixtures, adding a high-quality picture light, or adding new recessed fixtures in optimal locations.

Our goal is to seamlessly integrate the new art lighting into the existing space based on the size, medium, and mounting location of the art, the architectural aesthetic of the interior, and your specific lighting preferences.
